Family members of Call of Duty players are learning the hard way that experiencing No Russian for the first time isn’t for the faint of heart.
No Russian is a mission from the Modern Warfare 2 (2009) Campaign, which had you control undercover CIA agent Joseph Allen and participate in the mass shooting of civilians at an airport. The imagery is so disturbing there is an option to skip the mission.
Despite receiving criticism, the mission is one of the most iconic in series history, and other titles have used it as inspiration. For example, Modern Warfare 2019 leaned into using intense emotional moments for a mission and had you step into the shoes of a child and escape a war zone.

“But we all did it and didn’t even bat an eye.”
Other missions in subsequent titles have struck a similar chord, but it remains to be seen if developers will ever produce something to this extent again.
